National Speedo League, Deeping - 08th October 2005

2nd Deeping 218.5 pts
3rd Dronfield Dolphins 206.5 pts

5th Trenton Dolphins 155 pts


The first round of the National Speedo League saw us competing 10 miles up the road at Deeping. With other teams from North of the county, from Sheffield and Leicester this was nearly as good as a home draw.


We started off in fine style with Sarah Handley and Ben Marsters winning the first 2 events (100 Metre I.M.) and with 2nd places in the next 5 races we were out in front never to be caught, although it did get tight at the end.


We had 14 outright victories in total the others coming from: -

Ladies Open Medley - Lucy Nell, Hayley Brooker, Sarah Handley and Georgia Croxford

Mens Open Medley - Tom Marsters, Ben Marsters, Ian Gill and Dominic Croxford.

Once again we have proved that hard work and effort do pay off and that our swimmers are capable of rising to a challenge.


Thanks to the officials, parents and the poolside team for all your help. Thanks to three of our senior swimmers for coming back from University to swim for us and of course congratulations to all our swimmers who worked for every point and supported their team mates throughout the Gala.


Now we have to wait to see who we meet and where we are for the next round which is Saturday 12th of November. Please keep this date free to ensure that we can put out the best team possible to enhance our chances of securing a place in the League Final (December 10th)
