Lincs League Final, Grimsby – 25th June 2005

At the start of the Lincs League Program South Lincs would have been absolute outsiders to make either the Senior or Junior final yet we have achieved both accolades. Being in the final assures both teams of a minimum 6th place out of 12 teams and while the Junior team have to wait until the 17th of September to realise their potential the Senior team have concluded their program with a 6th place finish in the final.

A number of team members were clearly disappointed with the finish position but should definitely be proud of their performances. I am very pleased with every single team member for the determination and spirit they showed through the campaign and in the final itself. The club is in the position of re-building its team and competitive element and when I joined I said it would take years, not months to achieve this.

The fact that we have done so well to date is down to the swimmers attitude together with the poolside team and of course support of parents. This club can rejuvenate itself but we need to pull in the same direction and clearly our swimmers are already doing just that.

We had 3 individual wins on the night Alice Horton winning her 2 individuals (Back & Fly) and Tom Lane winning the 50 Back – Well done to these two swimmers. With such quality opposition in the pool it is also worth mentioning the following 2nd places:

The girl’s 10 yr Freestyle team of Chloe H, Jess, Phillipa and Highbury

Ben’s “68” in the Open 100 Breaststroke and Sully’s 10 yr 50 Breaststroke

The girls 14 yr Freestyle team of Jade, Lauren, Ellie and Laura

And finally the girls 12 yr Medley team of Vanessa, Chloe W, Alice and Heather

Well done to everyone for showing that South Lincs are very much alive and kicking.
