The 50 Metre pool in Coventry was once again the venue for the Midland District Championships. Some South Lincs swimmers could not swim all the events they had qualified for due to other sporting commitments, whilst others had a large number of qualifying times and choose to swim certain events. Six of the clubs more Senior swimmers competed in Coventry and all of them can be proud of their results.

The event combines both disabled and able bodied swims and Laura Bellars who swims as an S9 category disabled swimmer was hopeful of improving her 400 Freestyle time. Laura was also trying out a different race strategy which although it did not produce the time improvement she was looking for it did enable her to beat one of her rivals from Luton.

Hayley Brooker took on the 100, 200 and 400 Freestyle events and managed Long course PB's for each discipline. Hayley once again proved what a determined swimmer she is and it is evident that the move to South Lincs has benefited her training regime.

Other Freestyle only competitors were Lucy Nell, Georgia Croxford and Tom Marsters. Lucy who majors in the Triathlon could only attend for the 100 Freestyle which was also the case for Georgia. They both swam good heats and produced Long course PB's with Georgia managing to make the 18 & Over final. In the final Georgia finished 5th and although she was disappointed with her time she has again proved that she can compete with the best swimmers in the region (The Midland district covers 18 different counties).

Moving on to the guys Tom Marsters contested the 200, 400 and 800 Freestyle and all of his swims were Long course PB's. His 800 metre swim also converts to a short course PB taking off 7 seconds from his previous time.

His elder brother Ben took on the most swims choosing to compete in 6 events and making both the Breaststroke finals. Ben finished 7th in the 200 and 8th in the 100 Breaststroke but was disappointed not to make his National times. He did manage Long course PB's in the 200 I.M. 50 Free and twice in the 200 Breast (both heat and again in the final).
