Some names you will know such as Ron Pates who is still very loyal to South Lincs and comes to the pool every Saturday to train the swimmers. His daughter Sarah was a swimmer with the club and Ron has continued to show keen enthusiasm to all the swimmers he coaches. In fact, he can tell you times the swimmers have done for certain distances. If he cant tell you off the top of his head, he will consult his notebook where he's got times and splits noted for the swimmers. His interest in the swimmers and their progress is commendable.

Ron is also well known for his chocolate relay race, often referred to as the "kit kat" race, at the end of every Saturday evening training session. Just one of his ways of putting the fun into training.

Other names such as Mel Marshall and Dave Wilkie you may know from the world of Olympic Swimming. Mel trained with South Lincs for several years, also trained with Loughborough University and went on to compete at the Olympics with all the big names in swimming. Mel is currently the Coach for City of Derby Swimming Club.

The Perry family have had long connections with South Lincs and do still visit us at the Tulip Open Meet. Their son Mark was club coach here for a while and then went on to become coach at Northampton Swimming Club before becoming National Performance Manager for Open Water Swimming.
